Coordination with hospital overseas

Report on business travel to Cho Ray Hospital which is an associated institution

We visited Ho Chi Minh City and Southern Viet Nam for about one week from 20 September 2013.
Firstly, our primary purpose was to attend "Special Forum to commemorate the 40th anniversary of University of Tsukuba and 40th anniversary of the relationship between Viet Nam and Japan" which was held on 21 September 2013. Many academics attended this forum, including Mr Kyosuke Nagata who is President of University of Tsukuba, and Mr Osamu Ohneda, University of Tsukuba Southeast Asia Office Director and many others attended from the medicine and healthcare sides. Almost 70 people including Mr Nguyen Duc Nghia, Vice President of National Viet Nam University in Ho Chi Minh, Deputy Director Mr Tran Minh Truong of Cho Ray Hospital, and General-Consul Mr Nobuyuki Kan of General Consulate of Japan in Ho Chi Minh attended from the Viet Nam side, and congratulated the 40th anniversary of the relationship between Japan and Viet Nam, and each speaker spoke about academic coordination going forward between University of Tsukuba and Ho Chi Minh City. There were performances of Tsugaru Shamisen and xx by Japanese students, and traditional dance by Vietnamese students. The festivities were wonderful. All had big prospects on the continuation of the works to promote the cooperations on academics and education between University of Tsukuba and Ho Chi Minh City.

Later, we conducted a local survey of "research on the effects of training against infection on hospital grounds and current state of infections on hospital grounds at countries that conduct training to prevent infection on hospital grounds" as one measure of the international cooperation and research business that the National Center for Global Health and Medicine is conducting, and we conducted the survey on not only Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City but also from a standpoint of particularly training to prevent infection on hospital grounds at all general hospitals in the 3 provinces of the southern region. Personnel who already received training at Cho Ray Hospital in the project of an international cooperation agency, which is currently conducted in Viet Nam, is scheduled to conduct the training on all staffs at each hospital but this is yet to be conducted, and we hope for implementation of this project and improvements in measues against infection on hospital grounds.
