Our hospital has newly acquired the certification of the “Japan Medical Service Accreditation for International Patients (JMIP)” by the Japan Medical Education Foundation on September 6th, 2019. This certification is designed to evaluate if a hospital is available for foreign patients to receive safe and secure medical services. It is evaluated from five viewpoints: “Receiving Patients”, “Patient Services”, “Providing Medical Care”, “Organizational Structure and Management”, and “Efforts to improve”.
This is the 65th time to be certified nationally, and first in Ibaraki Prefecture. As a national university hospital, it is the sixth certified institution after Osaka University, Kyushu University, Okayama University, Hokkaido University, and Kobe University.
In the future, the number of foreign patients is expected to increase, with the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics being held in 2020. In order to continue to provide safe and secure medical care, the International Medical Center will continue to be in a central role to promote further improvements.
