The handover of the JICA Partnership Program (Laos) was conducted(2024年02月21日)

On February 21, 2024, materials and equipment, etc. procured under the JICA Partnership Program on Project for Stopping the Accident Fatality rise by EMS development and Road safety (SAFER Project) were handed over by Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) to National Mittaphab Hospital.

The ceremony was attended by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, National Mittaphab Hospital, National Mahosot Hospital, National Setthathirath Hospital, University of Health Sciences, 5 government-approved rescue teams*, National Khon Kaen University(Thailand), Khon Kaen Hospital(Thailand), JICA, University of Tsukuba, Japan(Project Representative), and Japan Research Institute for Social Systems(Project Constituent).

*Foundation for assisting poor people of Lao PDR (1623), Vientiane Rescue (1624), Lao Red Cross Rescue Team (1625), China Foundation Rescue Emergency Call (1628), Houamchai Foundation (1630).

The meeting, held at the handover ceremony, was facilitated by the Minister of Health, Lao PDR, and participants exchanged opinions on the continuity system and utilization policy of “emergency call number 1195” (which the project supported the establishment of) and the “Emergency Medical Service Suppor t System (ESS)” (which can register ambulance location information, dispatch availability, hospital availability, and traffic accident data, etc.), cooperation between the Mittaphab Hospital and emergency rescue teams, the future of the emergency medical service system and the role of each sector, and so on.

After the handover, stable operation of “1195”, improvement of the life-saving rate by utilizing the data accumulated in ESS, and continuous training of emergency medical personnel by Mittaphab Hospital are expected.
