REPORT OF VISIT TO TSUKUBA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL


I am an ENT resident of Khon Kaen university, Thailand. This is my first time in Japan.


I spent 3 weeks at Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Tsukuba University hospital from April 8th to April 27th, 2019. I really enjoyed beautiful cherry blossoms around this hospital.


My instructor is Assistant Prof. Tanaka Shuho. He is a very kind and skillful rhinologist.
I have learned a lot from him; especially endoscopic sinus surgery technique and how to take care of patients in out and in-patient clinic. 


Observership program in ENT department

1. Operating room

I observed surgical field and technique of surgery from many doctors in ENT department
     1.1 Septoplasty
     1.2 Turbinoplasty
     1.3 ESS
     1.4 Repair CSF leakage
     1.5 Pituitary tumor removal
     1.6 Neck dissection
     1.7 Tympanoplasty
     1.8 Mastoidectomy
     1.9 Parotidectomy




2.Outpatient department

Tsukuba University hospital has a very good patient care standard.

I observed Dr.Tanaka when he was taking medical histories and operating physical examination. I have learned a lot from him especially fiberoptic laryngoscopy technique.


3.Ward Round

I observed many doctors how to take care of postoperative ENT patients. There are many special consideration for taking care of postoperative ENT patients.

     3.1 Post-ESS: The patient have to learn about good nasal irrigation technique.
     3.2 Post-mastoidectomy: How to dressing after mastoid operation.

I feel very happy to spend time in Tsukuba University hospital.
I would like to sincerely thank to all staff members in ENT Department and International Medical Center.
