Greetings from the Hospital Director

“Heartfelt Hospital”…
Passionate medical professionals provide medical care with their whole hearts

Dr. Yuji HIRAMATSU, Director, University of Tsukuba Hospital

The philosophy of the University of Tsukuba Hospital is to provide high-quality medical care and cultivate medical professionals who contribute to developing the medical field. As an advanced treatment hospital and a medical education institution, it is a leader in medicine and medical care in Ibaraki Prefecture. We have been designated as the prefecture’s only Advanced Emergency and Critical Care Center, a Disaster Base Hospital, and an Ibaraki Total Support Center for Stroke and Heart Disease, among other designations, contributing to the establishment of a better regional medical and collaboration system within the prefecture.
As of April 1, 2024, I have assumed the position of Director of the University of Tsukuba Hospital and will strive to further strengthen its functions as an advanced treatment hospital while maintaining a firm financial base. As a hospital affiliated with the University of Tsukuba, one of the 10 designated national universities in Japan, we are committed to the enhancement and development of specific clinical research, industry-government-university joint research, advanced medical education, high-level medical treatment, and international collaborative activities. Our passionate medical professionals unite their hearts and minds in commitment to providing patient-focused medical care as a “Heartfelt Hospital”.
Through countermeasures against COVID-19 since 2020, the hospital has achieved a high level of crisis response capability and resilience. As Japan’s healthcare industry faces a number of difficult challenges, including Work-Style Reform, development of the next generation, diversity, and the establishment of facilities as hubs for healthcare, we will use our acquired resilience and imagination for the future to address these challenges by mobilizing our employees without compromising the quality and safety of our healthcare.
