April 1, 1974 A chief secretary was placed in the secretariat to prepare for the establishment of annex hospitals. Ministerial Ordinance for Partial Revision of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Act on Establishment of National Schools = Ordinance of the Ministry of Education No. 6 of 1974
April 1, 1975 The Preparatory Office for the Establishment of University Hospital was established. (Ministerial Ordinance for Partial Revision of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Act on Establishment of National Schools ; Ordinance of the Ministry of Education No.8, 1975)
January 31, 1976 The construction of Ward B was completed.
March 27, 1976 Construction of the outpatient clinic building (Building A) and the central clinic building (Building C) was completed.
May 10, 1976 The following departments were established: The Hospital Department was established in the Administrative Office (Instruction to revise a part of the Instruction Concerning Departments and Divisions of Administrative Offices of National Universities and National Junior Colleges; Instruction No. 15 of 1976 by the Ministry of Education). The hospital has 15 departments [Instruction for Partial Revision of Instruction for Medical Departments of National University Hospitals, etc. ; Instruction No. 10 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 1976], laboratories, surgical departments, radiology departments, material departments [Instruction for Partial Revision of Instruction for Central Medical Facilities of National University Hospitals, etc.; Instruction No. 11 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 1976], and Pharmacy Department and Nursing Department
October 1, 1976 The affiliated hospital was opened.
April 18, 1977 The Third Department of Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery were established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning the departments of the affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 12 of 1977 by the Ministry of Education)
The Emergency Department and the Medical History Department were established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 14 of 1977 by the Ministry of Education)
June 15, 1977 Construction of the special treatment building (Building D) was completed.
March 20, 1981 The construction of Ward E was completed.
April 1, 1981 The Department of Labor and Delivery was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 13 of 1981 by the Ministry of Education)
April 1, 1982 The Department of Physical Therapy was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities such as affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 9 of 1982 by the Ministry of Education)
March 30, 1988 Construction of the MR building (Building F) was completed.
May 25, 1988 The Department of Postgraduate Clinical Training was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities such as affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 22 of 1988 by the Ministry of Education)
June 8, 1990 The Intensive Care Unit was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 12 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 1990)
April 10, 1992 The Blood Transfusion Department was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities = Instruction No. 11 of 1992 by the Ministry of Education)
December 15, 1992 The extension of the Outpatient Care Building (Building A) was completed.
March 22, 1994 Construction of the extension to the MR building (Building F) was completed.
May 20, 1994 The Department of Optical Medicine was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the Instruction Concerning Central Medical Facilities of National University Hospitals, etc. ; Ministry of Education Instruction No. 12 of 1994)
April 1, 1995 The Department of Medical History was reorganized to establish the Department of Medical Information. Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 9 of 1995 by the Ministry of Education.
April 1, 1997 The Department of Pathology was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the Instruction Concerning Central Medical Facilities of National University Hospitals, etc. ; Instruction No. 11 of 1997 by the Ministry of Education)
February 15, 1999 Accredited by the Japan Medical Functionality Evaluation Organization.
April 1, 2000 The Rehabilitation Division was established by reorganizing the Physical Therapy Division. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities such as affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 12 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, 2000)
April 1, 2001 The Division of Blood Purification Therapy was established. (Instruction to revise a part of the instruction concerning central medical facilities of affiliated hospitals of national universities ; Instruction No. 51 of 2001 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)
April 1, 2002 The Department of Clinical Medical Management was established.
The Instruction Concerning Departments of National University Hospitals, etc. (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Instruction No. 23 of 1967) and the Instruction Concerning Central Medical Facilities of National University Hospitals, etc. (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Instruction No. 24 of 1967) are abolished. Instruction to Abolish the Instruction Concerning the Departments of National University Hospitals, etc. ;  Instruction No. 9 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, 2002.
March 31, 2003 Construction of the extension to the MR building (Building F) was completed.
April 1, 2003 The Medical Welfare Support Center was established.
February 15, 2004 The accreditation from the Japan Health Care Evaluation Agency was renewed.
March 9, 2004 ISO 9001:2000 certification was obtained.
April 1, 2004 A new start was made as a national university corporation named “Tsukuba University Hospital”.
Central medical facilities and special medical facilities were integrated as medical facilities.
The Materials Department, the Labor and Delivery Department, and the Postgraduate Clinical Training Department were reorganized to establish the Logistics Center, the Comprehensive Perinatal Care Center, and the Comprehensive Clinical Education Center, respectively.
A new Department of Pathological Nutrition was established.
The Hospital Department made a new start as the Hospital Administration Department.
June 21, 2004 The Corporate Strategy Office was established.
April 1, 2005 The Ibaraki Prefecture Intractable Disease Consultation and Support Center was established.
June 29, 2005 Designated as a comprehensive perinatal care center by Ibaraki Prefecture.
July 1, 2005 The Palliative Care Center was established.
The Comprehensive Perinatal Medical Center was renamed the Comprehensive Perinatal Medical Center for Mothers and Children.
March 2, 2006 The University of Tsukuba Hospital Redevelopment Office was established.
September 25, 2006 Accreditation from the Japan Health Care Evaluation Agency was renewed.
February 1, 2007 The Tsukuba Human Tissue Diagnostic Center was established.
March 9, 2007 ISO 9001 certification was renewed.
July 1, 2007 The Clinical Oncology Center was established.
September 10, 2007 The Clinical Oncology Center was renamed the Comprehensive Cancer Care Center.
December 1, 2007 The Department of Emergency and Intensive Care was established by reorganizing the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Department.
February 8, 2008 Designated as a regional base hospital for cancer treatment.
April 1, 2008 An outpatient chemotherapy room has been established.
July 1, 2008 The Medical Device Management Center was established.
September 24, 2008 Accreditation by the NPO Evaluation Organization for Postgraduate Clinical Training.
April 1, 2009 The Mito Regional Medical Education Center was established.
February 12, 2010 Renewed ISO 9001:2008 certification.
April 1, 2010 The ISO and Medical Operations Support Department was established.
October 1, 2010 The Ibaraki Regional Clinical Education Center was established.
December 27, 2010 The Radiation Therapy Quality Control Office was established.
April 1, 2011 The Hitachinaka Center for Social Collaboration Education and Research was established.
The Center for Clinical Research Promotion and Support was established.
April 1, 2012 The Infection Control Department was established.
The Hitachi Center for Education and Research in Society was established.
The Tsuchiura City Regional Clinical Education Station was established.
June 18, 2012 The Office for the Promotion of International Collaboration was established.
July 1, 2012 The Ibaraki Pediatric Regional Medical Education Station was established.
The English name of the University Hospital was changed to “University of Tsukuba Hospital”.
September 10, 2012 The Ibaraki Clinical Trials Network was established.
September 30, 2012 Construction of the new building (Keyaki Building) was completed.
November 1, 2012 The Medical Welfare Support Center was renamed the Community Medical Cooperation and Patient Consultation Support Center.
December 1, 2012 A volunteer room was set up.
December 26, 2012 A new building (Keyaki Building) was put into service.
January 1, 2013 The Children’s Comprehensive Medical Center and the Pediatric Intensive Care Center were established.
Designation as a pediatric emergency center by Ibaraki Prefecture.
February 1, 2013 A hospital bed management center was established.
February 8, 2013 The ISO 9001:2008 certification was renewed.
April 1, 2013 The Medical Center for Dementia Disease was established.
Designated by Ibaraki Prefecture as a center for dementia care (core type).
The Advanced Particle Beam Research Strategy Office and Neutron Medical Research and Development Office were established in the Proton Medical Research Center.
September 1, 2013 The Tsukuba City Birth Center was established.
October 1, 2013 The Department of Clinical Psychology was established.
November 1, 2013 The Tsukuba Human Tissue Biobank Center was established.
Designated as a base hospital for disasters in Ibaraki Prefecture.
January 1, 2014 The Center for Regional Medical Cooperation and Patient Counseling Support was renamed the Medical Cooperation and Patient Counseling Center.
The Research Center for Future Medical Engineering was established.
January 6, 2014 The accreditation of the Japan Health Care Evaluation Organization was renewed.
July 16, 2014 The Toride Regional Clinical Education Station was established.
October 1, 2014 The Proton Therapy Center was established.
January 1, 2015 The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was established.
March 1, 2015 The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was established.
April 1, 2015 Department of Oncology and Comprehensive Disaster and Emergency Management Office were established. The Tsuchiura Regional Clinical Education Station was reorganized into the Tsuchiura Regional Clinical Education Center.
June 1, 2015 The Tsukuba Institute for Clinical Medical Research and Development was established.
July 1, 2015 The Kamisu Regional Medical Education Center was established.
August 1, 2015 The Department of Genetic Medicine was established.
September 1, 2015 The patient library “Kirinoha Collection” was established.
October 1, 2015 The Tsukuba Sports Medicine and Health Science Center was established.
April 1, 2016 The Ibaraki Disaster and Community Psychiatry Research Center was established.
The name of the Office for the Promotion of International Collaboration was changed to “International Medical Center”.
October 1, 2016 The Tsukuba Research Center for Preventive Medicine was established.
April 1, 2017 The Stroke Care Group was established.
The Quality and Safety Management Section was established.
April 1, 2018 The Hospital General Internal Medicine Group was established.
The Higher Emergency Center was established.

The Joint Western Ibaraki Regional Clinical Education Center was established.
April 1, 2019 The Medical Group was renamed the Department of Medicine.
The Nutrition Support Center was established.
The Support Center for Appropriate Use of Antimicrobial Agents was established.
The Furukawa and Bando Regional Medical Education Center was established.
Abolished “Division of Planning and Hospital Management” and renewed as “Division of  Accountig” and “Division of Hospital Redevelopment promotion”
